ABOUT US
Thirty years ago Cherry and Keith Durrant started out in business selling Keith's handmade leather goods at festivals and agricultural shows throughout the country. Over the years the business gradually evolved and is now based in the shop "Metamorphosis" which is in the centre of St.Ives (Cambridgeshire) and is a fascinating eclectic mix of world crafts and cultures.
If you are looking for an alternative or unusual gift we have an amazing selection of interesting things. This is the place to visit if you want to buy a Tibetan prayer wheel; a Russian matrioshka or a Native American Indian rattle. The range is huge and an initial interest in an item can be deepened and enhanced by browsing through the shelves of complimentary books and C.D's. There are books on Buddhism, Paganism, Reiki, Crystals, Tarot and Alternative Medicine. Alongside the C.D's for meditation and relaxation there is an amazing diversity of authentic world music.
There are also chess sets, mirrors, beautiful silver jewellery; a huge range of body piercing jewellery; and on the lighter side, a corner devoted to the eccentric world of the artist Simon Drew. And Keith's leather belts are still available too!
At Metamorphosis we try to provide an excellent customer service whilst having a positive effect on the world,
it's environment and it's people.
We do this by trying as best we can to source products which are
Ethically Traded or Fair Traded.
In this way we can satisfy ourselves that the people who produce the products we buy are working under fair and decent conditions.
One of our main suppliers uses their profits to fund a charity which runs projects to help the communities of the people who make the products.
Our customers are very important to us and we go out of our way to try and help people find what they are looking for. We have spent a long time building up our customer relations and have many loyal customers. We are very proud of the service we offer and make an effort to deal with everyone in a personal and friendly way.
